Chairman of The Bridge Clinic, Dr Pamela Jackson-Ajayi, has been honoured at the 2026 Extraordinary Women Advancing Healthcare Awards in recognition of her outstanding contributions to healthcare leadership.

The recognition celebrates women whose vision, innovation and commitment are driving transformation across Africa’s healthcare sector. The awards were organised by the LiveWell Initiative, in partnership with the Global Public Health University Sustainability Centre, Innovara Inc., USA, and the EWAH Nigeria Board.

Dr Jackson-Ajayi was among a group of distinguished healthcare leaders recognised for their efforts in strengthening health systems, advancing medical innovation and improving healthcare outcomes across the continent, the clinic said in a statement on Tuesday.

Other recipients of the recognition included the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye; President of the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria and Chief Executive Officer of PharmAccess Foundation, Dr Njide Ndili; Chairman of Punch Nigeria Limited, Angela Emuwa; Managing Director of Nigeria Health Watch, Vivian Ihekweazu; Chief Executive Officer of Advantage Health Africa, Pharm. Abimbola Adebakin; Chief Executive Officer of ACT Foundation, Osayi Alile; and Dr Amina Mohammed-Baloni, alongside other prominent figures in healthcare and development.

The award comes as The Bridge Clinic continues to build on nearly three decades of pioneering fertility care in Nigeria and across Africa. Established in 1996, the clinic became Nigeria’s first dedicated fertility centre and has since expanded its services to Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, as well as its London facility.

Over the years, The Bridge Clinic has supported thousands of individuals and families through assisted reproductive medicine, while introducing several fertility treatments and technologies to Nigeria’s healthcare landscape.

Dr Jackson-Ajayi, who co-founded The Bridge Clinic and currently serves as its Chairman, has played a key role in shaping the organisation’s growth and commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centred care and innovation.

Commenting on the recognition, Dr Jackson-Ajayi said the award reflected the collective efforts of healthcare professionals who have contributed to the clinic’s journey.

“This recognition is deeply humbling because it represents the work of so many dedicated professionals who have devoted themselves to helping individuals and families achieve their dream of parenthood. At The Bridge Clinic, our mission has always been about combining scientific excellence with compassionate care,” she said.

Beyond her role at The Bridge Clinic, Dr Jackson-Ajayi has contributed to Nigeria’s broader healthcare ecosystem. She founded PathCare Nigeria, now SYNLAB Nigeria, helping establish a major diagnostic laboratory network in the country.
