Apple’s market value briefly climbed above the $5 trillion mark for the first time, making it only the second company in history to reach the milestone after Nvidia.

The iPhone maker’s shares were last up 0.94 percent to $340.08, bringing its market capitalization to $4.99 trillion. Earlier in the session, Apple’s stock hit a record high of $342.89, lifting the company’s valuation to $5.036 trillion.

Apple becomes the world’s most valuable company

Apple overtook Nvidia earlier this month to become the world’s most valuable company, reclaiming the top spot from the chipmaker, which had held the position since June 2025 and was the first company to surpass a $5 trillion market valuation.

Nvidia shares were last up 0.25 percent at $197.01, giving the company a market capitalization of $4.77 trillion.

Apple’s gains have been driven by robust demand for its products and its decision to take a more measured approach to the artificial intelligence investment race currently underway among major technology firms.

While rivals have committed billions of dollars to AI infrastructure, weighing on cash flows and increasing debt levels, Apple has largely avoided those costs.

The company’s shares have risen around 25 percent so far this year, outperforming other members of the Magnificent 7 group, including Nvidia, Meta, Alphabet and Microsoft.

Rather than building out its own large-scale AI infrastructure, Apple has leveraged Google’s AI technology to support new features, including an upgraded Siri, helping it introduce AI-powered services while avoiding the substantial costs tied to expanding data center capacity.

    Markets await Apple’s third-quarter results

Apple’s decision to keep iPhone prices unchanged last month, while raising prices for MacBooks and iPads, has further supported demand for its flagship device. Analysts noted that consumers rushed to purchase iPhones ahead of anticipated price increases later this year.

The company also introduced a device leasing program in the U.S. on Tuesday in partnership with payments firm Klarna, offering monthly plans starting at $17.99 for an iPhone, $11.99 for an Apple Watch or iPad, and $24.99 for a Mac.

Apple is scheduled to release its third-quarter earnings after markets close on Thursday, with analysts forecasting quarterly revenue growth of more than 15 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.
