Eastern Cape emergency services are on the scene of a deadly crash on the N2 at Gamtoos Hill involving three trucks and a light motor vehicle.

The route has been closed in both directions as rescue, recovery and crash investigation operations continue.

Motorists are being urged to use the R102 as an alternative route.

The Eastern Cape Department of Transport said that the number of people killed or injured has not yet been confirmed as emergency teams continue working at the scene.
