Pars Today – The United Nations has stated that all Israeli settlement activity in the occupied West Bank is legally invalid and constitutes a clear violation of international law.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq said that the UN Secretary-General is deeply concerned over the recent announcement by Israeli authorities regarding a series of measures, including reports of accelerating the construction of new settlement outposts and settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Haq stressed that the Secretary-General reiterates that all settlements—including the establishment of new settlement outposts and settlements—have no legal validity and represent a clear violation of international law.

He added that colleagues at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) have expressed grave concern over the recent escalation of violence across the occupied West Bank.

Haq said that since Thursday, at least eight Palestinians, including one child, have been martyred, while many others have been injured.

He continued that homes, mosques, trees, and agricultural structures had been set on fire or otherwise vandalized and destroyed, with some being completely demolished. According to Haq, at least 10 Palestinian families have been forced to flee their homes and have been displaced as a result of the recent violence.

Referring to Israeli restrictions, he added that Israeli forces have simultaneously intensified limitations on the movement of Palestinians and their access to many areas across the West Bank. These measures have prevented thousands of people from reaching essential services, including emergency medical care and

The UN spokesperson emphasized that the United Nations continues to call for the immediate protection of civilians, full respect for international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and accountability for those responsible for these actions.
