Kenya Deputy President Denies Being Stripped of Govt Roles

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has denied widespread claims that he has been stripped of key government responsibilities by President William Ruto. In a brief post on X (formerly Twitter), Kindiki dismissed the rumors as “fake news”.

Political pundits have backed his stance, saying the claims are exaggerated. They say any reallocation of administrative duties by Ruto is intended to address operational challenges rather than diminish the office of the Deputy President.

The denial comes amid growing rumors that Kindiki is being isolated within the administration, with reports alleging that influential figures are pushing to replace him as President Ruto’s running mate ahead of the 2027 General Election.
