President Cyril Ramaphosa has said that unmanaged migration has the potential to undermine the sovereignty, and “Social order” of countries include South Africa.

Ramaphosa has also called for the country’s immigration laws to be respected by those seeking asylum or looking at migrating to South Africa.

He’s called on other African countries to come together in addressing mass migration and the factors that cause it.

Ramaphosa was addressing the opening of the first ordinary session of the seventh Pan-African parliament in Johannesburg earlier.

“South Africa cannot solve this challenge alone. It needs to work together with its sister countries and with the peoples of our continent to address this problem. We have seen how unmanaged migration can undermine the sovereignty, security and social order of countries, not only South Africa but many other countries,” Ramaphosa.
