Top 10 BBNaija stars who made it big in Nollywood
For many contestants, Big Brother Naija is more than a reality television show—it is a launchpad for bigger opportunities in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
While several former housemates have ventured into music, business and content creation, a number have carved a niche in Nollywood, landing lead roles in blockbuster films, TV series and streaming productions.
Here are 10 former BBNaija housemates who have successfully transitioned into acting:
1. Tobi Bakre (Season 3 – Double Wahala)
Tobi Bakre has emerged as the biggest acting success story to come out of the reality show. Since finishing as the second runner-up in 2018, he has become one of Nollywood’s most sought-after actors.
His credits include “Gangs of Lagos”, “Brotherhood”, “Sugar Rush”, “Farmer’s Bride” and “Postcards”. His performances have earned him critical acclaim, including an Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) Best Actor trophy.
2. Bisola Aiyeola (Season 2 – See Gobe):
Although Bisola had acting experience before entering the Big Brother house, the platform significantly elevated her profile.
She has since starred in several successful productions, including “Sugar Rush”, “Breaded Life”, “Introducing the Kujus”, “This Lady Called Life” and numerous television series, establishing herself as one of Nollywood’s leading actresses.
3. Bamike ‘BamBam’ Olawunmi-Adenibuyan (Season 3 – Double Wahala)
BamBam has steadily built an impressive acting career since leaving the reality show. She gained widespread praise for her performances in “Love in Every Word”, “Seasoned With Love”, “Heart Strings” and other films, proving she is more than just a reality TV personality.
4. Erica Nlewedim (Season 5 – Lockdown)
Erica’s acting career received a major boost after BBNaija. She has featured in productions such as “Devil in Agbada”, “A Weekend to Forget” and “Hire a Woman”, while continuing to establish herself as one of the industry’s fast-rising actresses.
5. Diane Russet (Season 4 – Pepper Dem)
Diane quickly embraced acting after leaving the show and has featured in several films, including “Once Upon A Honeymoon” and “Brotherhood”. Beyond acting, she has also ventured into filmmaking, producing projects that have received recognition within the industry.
6. Elozonam Ogbolu (Season 4 – Pepper Dem):
Elozonam has consistently built his acting résumé since his BBNaija stint. His calm screen presence and versatility have earned him roles in several Nollywood productions, making him one of the show’s notable acting exports. He has featured in several films, including “Sanitation Day”, “A Weekend to Forget” and “Before Valentine’s”
7. Venita Akpofure (Pepper Dem/All Stars)
Venita had already appeared in films before joining BBNaija, but the reality show expanded her fan base and opened up more acting opportunities. She has continued to feature in films and television productions while maintaining a strong presence in the entertainment industry. She has appeared in films including “Before Valentine’s” and “Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards”.
8. Alex Asogwa (Alex Unusual) (Season 3 – Double Wahala):
Alex has successfully diversified into acting alongside hosting and content creation. She has appeared in several Nollywood productions, gradually establishing herself as a familiar face on screen. She has appeared in films including “Merry Men 2” and “Fate of Alakada”.
9. Teddy A (Season 3 – Double Wahala):
Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, is a Nigerian-American rapper, actor, singer, songwriter and podcaster. Teddy A has also explored acting, appearing in a number of film projects while balancing his music career. His versatility has enabled him to remain relevant in the entertainment space. He has appeared in films including “Foreigner’s God” and “House of Ga’a”.
10. Saga Adeolu (Season 6 – Shine Ya Eye)
Saga Adeolu has steadily expanded his career into Nollywood since gaining fame on Big Brother Naija Season 6. While he entered the spotlight as an engineer, fitness enthusiast and artist, the reality show opened doors for him in the film industry. Since leaving the Big Brother house, Saga has appeared in a number of Nollywood productions, showcasing his versatility as an actor. His notable screen appearances include “How Love Kept Me”, “Wedding Planner”, “Walls Between Us” and other television and streaming projects.
