CONTENT creator Popi Sibiya says The Masked Singer South <a href="https://absafricatv9491.live-website.com/fifa-africa-office-opens-in-rabat-a-global-football-impact/” title=”FIFA Africa Office Opens in Rabat: A Global Football Impact”>Africa season 3 has opened her eyes to a brand-new passion – live performance!
After her journey on the popular SABC2 show ended on Saturday, the 31-year-old travel vlogger from Bisho in the Eastern Cape is now considering a future on stage.
“I think I’ll be back on stage, either as an actress or a singer, but I’ll definitely be back. I want a live stage,” she said.
Popi told Daily Sun that stepping onto The Masked Singerstage made her realise just how much she loves performing in front of a live audience.
But that’s not all the bubbly content creator has up her sleeve.
In 2026, Popi is focusing on getting her travel show onto streaming platforms and turning it into a commercial success.
“That’s the type of project I’m going to prioritise going forward. I’ve been giving social media free content for a long time.
“I want my show to grow and reach a much wider audience, generate more revenue and become a proper, formal show,” she said.
Popi said being on The Masked Singer was a refreshing change from her usual work.
“I’m a social media person. I film myself, edit and control the narrative. But on The Masked Singer, it was one take with a live audience, and you have to bring your A-game,” she said.
“It was nice to be there. It was my first time on a TV set. Everything was new, and this whole thing of the mask – you have to keep it a secret. But it was nice, and I enjoyed it.”
Popi said when she entered the competition, she just wanted to have fun with no goal of winning.
“But by the time I left, I had a feeling I could win it or at least be in the top three,” she said.
However, she wasn’t impressed when the show’s detectives failed to identify her while she was dressed as Pap and Wors.
“I felt like the clues were too difficult. I would have felt better if the clues were fair and the detectives struggled – then I would understand. The clues were so difficult that even I didn’t know some of them about myself!” she said.
“But funnily enough, my followers online said they knew it was me immediately because they know my voice. So maybe the clues were fine after all.”
Popi admitted she was disappointed after being voted out.
“But then I remembered I came to have fun, and I was okay again. Honestly, dropping out early in the season allowed me to get back to my work anyway,” she added.
