Though former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal is undoubtedly a very famous person, he doesn’t like being tagged as a celebrity.
During a recent interview with <a href="https://pagesix.com/2026/07/23/entertainment/shaquille-oneal-reveals-why-he-thinks-celebrities-are-a-holes/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=pagesix” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>Page Six, the four-time NBA champion stated that he regards himself as “a regular person,” and he’s against being put “in that category.”
“Excuse my French, celebrities are a–holes,” O’Neal, 54, said, adding that he feels those people are “weird, rude and obnoxious.”
Following a very successful NBA career, the Los Angeles Lakers legend has delved into several business, sports, and entertainment endeavors.
His latest project is Game Day Murders, a true crime series that he’s executive producing.
“I’ve been a sports guy, I’ve been a true crime guy, and finally, we’re going to merge the two together,” O’Neal, who described himself as a “true crime junkie,” told the news outlet. “[I like it because] everybody has that detective in them.”

O’Neal also made mention of one of the Rockymovies, saying that when he’s watching it, he knows “he may lose … and if he does lose, he’s gonna go through this crazy comeback, and he’s going to win the last fight.”
He said when he’s watching true crime, however, “you don’t know what’s gonna happen.”
The 54-year-old explained that Game Day Murders focuses on crime in collegiate and professional sports. O’Neal also told Page Six that the show won’t be about putting the victims or tragedies in a sensationalized position, as they will respectfully report the stories.
“Our goal was to honor the legacy of those who lost their lives,” he explained, adding that they’ll make viewers see “how we all could band together in tough times.”
