Youths who attended the closing Mass of the just-concluded assembly of theAssociation of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa(AMECEA) have welcomed the Bishops’ renewed commitment to accompany, empower and actively involve them in the life and mission of the Church.
The young people who spoke to ACI Africa after the closing ceremony of the21st AMECEA Plenary Assemblyon Sunday, July 26, said that the Bishops’ message on journeying with young people resonated deeply with them.
Pascal Riungu, a parishioner of theHoly Family Catholic Parish, Utawala, said that the Bishops’ message to the young people was both inspiring and timely.
“We are living in a society where the role of the youth in the church has been shifting, and it’s good that now the church is putting some cross-emphasis on what the young people need as part of spiritual growth,” he said at the event that was held at St. Mary’s Msongari Grounds in Kenya’sCatholic Archdiocese of Nairobi(ADN).
Riungu, who is also a member of St. Romanos the Melodist Choir in his Parish, urged the young people to keep their hope alive despite the challenges they face.
