… as culture ICON celebrate 79th birthday
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Oyebamiji have disclosed that renown Ifa priest and Yoruba cultural enthusiast, Ifayemi Elebuibon is not only an asset to Yoruba race but the entire African continent.
Oyebamiji, who spoke while making a remark at the High priest birthday and House warming ceremony at his Ogbeyonu House in Osogbo, said the celebrant is a repository of knowledge about African tradition and culture, hence, deserves to be celebrated.
He also disclosed that the state has many tourists attraction site which when invested in appropriately will attract billions into the country and create job.
“Araba Elebuibon is a blessing to mankind. For us in Africa and asset and specifically for Nigeria, someone that should be celebrated every year. The best way to celebrate him is to revive our tourism potential, the likes of Osun-Osogbo grove, Ayekunnugba waterfall, Erin-Ijesa waterfall, the Ifa Temple, Oranmiyan staff among so many others in the state”, he said.
Also, the Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations, Dr Biyi Odunlade said Elebuibon is an ICON of Yoruba culture and tradition who is revered globally for his depth of Yoruba tradition.
“As a government Araba is an asset for us in Osun State and we always celebrate his commitment to the development of Yoruba tradition across he globe. We are committed to ensuring that Osun becomes reference point in projecting African culture globally in his honour”, he added.
Earlier in his remark, Araba Elebuibon disclosed that his commitment to Yoruba religion, tradition and culture project him to global relevance, calling on government to not just preserve Nigerian cultural heritage but project it to the outside world.
“It is time for government and every stakeholders understand that the only way to bring global attention to the country is to project our culture and tradition to he outside world that is what will attract tourists here we just need to ensure appropriate packaging and branding to sell what we have rather than buy what is not strange to us”, he said.
